Concept video and user testing at Hellerup Montessori Kindergarten of Pas A Pas.

Pas a Pas is an interactive educational tool for schools that enables children to learn and experiment with different sets of elements using animation. It aims to use the physicality and the animated outcome of stop motion animation to bridge the gap between abstract concepts from maths, physics or arts (usually represented by graphs, equations or words) and reality.

    This is incredible!...

You only have a prototype, or you already have some devices in production to sell..

    :)

Great tool for creative adults as well :)

I'm not sure if the quality of the pictures would really be nice enough to make something really nice looking though.

Idea is the king. Tools are just slaves. Starting with something like this vimeo.com/2632024 or vimeo.com/6359800 :)

@k in an exhibition, adults where even more excited. stop motion has this viral effect, just seeing previous movies from other people sparked new ideas in people's heads.

@J it's enough for the purpose of teaching or playing, not enough (in the prototype) to display in a big screen.

Really like the concept and the aesthectics of the device. But... quite disappointed by the physical controls: it really looks like a toy for grown up more than an educational tool for children... Too many buttons and not so... children-friendly.
No se tio, no te lo tomes mal, but you still have room for improvement in phase 2 I guess.
Anyway congrats, the project really is pretty interesting!

Hi Marco, thanks for your comment. Actually I decided to design the interface for kids from 8 to 16 so I'd be able to test more complicated features to help them perform better animations (such as onion skinning). I had to make a design decision on which age range to test what due to the short time frame for the project (10w). The interface is snapped with magnets on this prototype so I can easily take this one out and place a more simple one for little children.
Regarding the aesthetics I totally agree that is not totally children friendly, although being quite neutral (like in old wooden toys) the appeal comes from what's happening on the screen. Also it was difficult to find nice buttons that look durable and had good haptics, so I took these ones from an old video-recorder for the prototype.
Next version will incorporate quite a few changes, specially on the interface. Thanks again! All comments are very helpful :)
