This is just a simple test with Realflow and Krakatoa. The Realflow simulation contains 10 million particles and took about 2 days to simulate on a 8 core with 24 gig ram. In addition i rendered the particles with Krakatoa with a 'color by vorticity' KCM setup to get the foam & spray. The beauty pass is rendered with Vray.
