"Re-online" a project from timecodeless consumer SD cards? They said it couldn't be done. I assumed it couldn't be done. Then I read the manual, which said it could.

I thought I should share.

How to use FCP in such a way that you can archive only your original card media, throw away all those big ProRes files but still be able to modify a project later. We shoot some stuff, add some graphics *round trip to Color*, then throw all renders and ingested ProRes away and *then* reconstitute the project from original cards.

They're used extensively in Tales of Monkey Island, which the kids and I are playing at the mo'. Nothing says elapsed time like that!

Could you point me to the sections of the Final Cut Pro manual that reference the procedures you're using? Thanks for the tutorial.

    Hi JVo,

The manual's not printed (or even a PDF) anymore :-(

Let me just remind myself what I searched on ... OK there's a section called "Retransferring Clip Media" under advanced topics for file based media, which you can find by searching the FCP7 help.
