Railroad probe examines the main structural elements (rail, sleepers, track fastenings, fishplates, joints, ballast, road crossings, switches etc.) using a vision and a laser inspection system in addition to 9 ultrasonic air coupled transducers. It then synchronises the data with the relative sectioning of the railway using GPS coordinates.
The inspection system stores and processess the scanned data to detect defects of the rail and provides GPS coordinates with the defect data to the operator. The operator can then analyse stored data and confirm a critical defect or update the maintenance schedule for a non-critical defect of the track.
