94. Do you love me?

Nothing to see here, just did a couple tests with my best friend to try to learn and figure some stuff out...didn't exactly end up how I wanted, but there's still time to learn and try different things out.

Looks like you are getting the hang of things. It'll be fun to see the progress you make with these tools.
  • Yeah I'm excited. But I shouldn't get overly excited..hahaha It's important that I don't use these things for the sake of using them just because I have them, but because they move a story along and that what I work on calls for it. I like sharing my progress with my friends.

    Oh, Karen. I love this.

    Movements look real good.
  • Yeah I need to practice it a lot, its a lot harder than I thought it would be. But it's still fun...almost as fun as hauling all that equipment into the recesses of that creek with just 2 people. haha

My oh my Karen - I think this is my favorite thing you have ever done. Truly sincere and telling - beautiful camera work and as always fantastic images to sink and escape into.
  • aw Dan, thanks. (not gonna lie, kinda awkard to write/do the narration)...haha

    :-)

I know what you mean about the narration - I did it for my last vid I shared with you the other day and had to do it about 16 times because I hate the sound of my recorded voice. Sort of like you hating to be on camera I guess.

    I loved this so much!!

i like how you shot this. it's different than what I've seen you do. as far as the narration - it can easily be changed if you ever would want to. Because the visuals are interesting- they can support various dialogues.
  • haha. I think it's not too different, just different than what i've shot lately. There's been a gap of a couple months of my videos where i just tried ridiculous things...I guess that's what summer does...but now I'm in school mode...so my videos aren't as weird hahaha.

Agreed about the narration. :-) haha not enough visuals though....(ran out of footage towards the end...) haha. The sun goes down too fast.

i always love your feedback thanks you
  •
  • lovely. the guy talking at the end made me blink for a second though.
  • haha thanks laura.

Seems like an awesome trailer for a love story.

Jeez this makes me sad. I feel for that guy, I really do.
  • Antoine Bandele 1 year ago
0:51 - 0:54 You could have titled up a bit. He's got too much forehead and his chin is cut off a bit. I always try to shoot faces evenly, giving the top of the eye the same distance from the top of the screen as the bottom of the lip from the bottom of the screen.
  • haha yeah I didn't really do that carefully.

Oh yeah and here's the thing..

my camera only shoots in 4:3.

    hahaha

    Also...
is it bad that I've felt both ways before...but moreso opposite the guy.

It's not that I'm a bitch, just scared.

Ah so you are breaking vimeo's golden rule, and posting NTSC upscaled to HD, kind of a no-no, AFAIK. I was wondering why it looked a bit cloudy. Looks good different, good for even upscaled NTSC video.

And I agree with antoine, the dialogue killed me. If my wife said that to me, it would shatter me.

But I know people feel this way, and it's real, so I applaud the realism and the forethought in such a simple question, that we all long to know, ask, and feel at ease about.

P.S. I love stuff that doesn't always have a happy ending, not to be morbidly pessimistic, but because things aren't always daises.
  • haha you are right. It's okay, I don't think vimeo will hate me for it. I have my reasons for it, that are more than just, because I simply want to have it that way. :-)

Good thing I don't date anyone, ever, so I don't have to worry about breaking hearts. haha.

Life isn't full of happy endings, but eventually you get a sense of contentment and just move on.

If life was a movie, I'm still waiting on my happy ending.

That was beautiful. From the title, I expected a cheesy and poor college movie. But this was amazing, kudos.

    Hahaha, okay :D

I'm gonna go brainstorm some ideas, farewell.
  •
  • karen, i'm plenty of the most rich silence inside.
really: i'm lucky of having your videos in my life. they simply do express my own feelings, like i never could imagine how simple they can be... but i know they are not exactally plain or easy to reach in between words. i work on words everyday in my life. therefore, once you, karen, touch them in deep of yourself, the precise feeling starts to show itself off, like an obvious and overwhelming truth. to love sometimes is not just to love, and you knew to figure out this subjective time on your video.
thank you very much for being an artist of life.
    s.
  • :-) Thanks so much sebastiao.

    It's difficult...
and you put yourself out on a limb.
And it's easier for people to judge you.

But what's the point of creating if it's not from the heart.
