True and nice disillusion, but I'm still the opinion that you can do a lot with dslrs and they have enormous potential. If somebody can't use his own potential to reach this, than well... it's their fault, right?
  • safetyhammer 1 year ago
Yeah, good point! Ability to reach my potential is another thing Canon forgot to put in the box.
  • ZoomOut 1 year ago
or it is still in the box and you are just not able to find it. Its not always the fault of others, haven´t you learned that in nursery school? ;))

    nice vid, like the idea!
  • Daniel Dragon Films plus 6 months ago
For anyone actually angry at Canon; here's the "secret" to working with their cameras:

Use a tripod. Or, a shoulder rig.

Oh yeah, and learn to manual focus. Auto-focus is like Santa Claus, it doesn't really exist, and if it did, only works once a year.
  • Lynn Magnuson plus 6 months ago
Yeah .... autofocus is a joke. Or maybe that's why they measure the distance from the camera to the actor on film sets ... because they use AUTOFOCUS?????
  •
  • Hilarious!
  •
  • Bernd Schäffer 1 year ago
The overuse of depth of field (for me typical for "not so great" dslr videos) still makes me chuckle xD
  •
  • Mark_in_NY plus 1 year ago
You've got narrative so in some senses you're already in the top 5% of "artistic video making"... just one more elusive L lens purchase and Hollywood will be calling before you know it
  • Mark Horner plus 6 months ago
    Funny!
  •
  • A+G vIsUaLs 1 year ago
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Vincent Laforet's video's lack direction in my honest, humble, non-professional opinion. Anyone can take a DSLR with the ticket price of a small compact vehicle and make a video look good. Far as I'm concerned, your video was 10 times more interesting that anything Vincent Laforet has put out. Again, in my super poor, budget-minded, honest, humble, non-proffesional, "I-use-a-measly-cybershot-for-my-films, opinion.

    Keep it up!

Hey, thanks, Vincent. Next time you're in a Canon store, you feel free to shoplift something. You've earned it.
  • Daniel Dragon Films plus 6 months ago
We have a winner: Funniest Vimeo comment ever!

Yeah, Canon gave me tickets to a 1994 World Cup game. But I've bought a 5DmkII, 7D, 16-35mm, etc.. I think we're about even now.

I have laughed so hard today.. every time he says Vincent's name I just bust up laughing again....

Your animations are pretty hilarious, I like the Vlad the Impaler one a lot.

You should have waited a bit longer to purchase. Canon will soon be coming out with their first hybrid real video/film cam, rendering your 60D useless! But you still have a chance to make real movies for about 3 or 4K more $ : )
