See all Show me
From Daejeon to Seoraksan to Busan to Seoul. Our S.Korea road trip last October (2010).

I'm happy to see that so many people in South Korea have shared this video. I really wanted to show South Korea's beauty to people that are not familiar with it, but it's great others back in S.K. find it to be a heartfelt look into their country.

My parents live in Daejeon. You can checkout my dad's photography of Korea here:

For more S. Korea, this is a video of my mom's painting group on a mountain near Daejeon:

I love your work, it's very inspiring!! What did you use for color correction on this? It looks amazing, always impressive!!
  • David Dutton plus 1 year ago
Thanks James! I use After Effects for color correction. Not the best tool to do so, I know, but I'm just familiar with Adobe so I put up with it ;)

  • What you've done here is fantastic, and much better than most of the "Visit Korea" videos I've ever seen produced by Korea Tourism. They should have paid you for this.

I just joined vimeo to comment on this video. I've been to many of those places, and it was very refreshing to see them again and well presented. Your video reminded me of my time spent in Korea, even right up until the very end when you feature a snippet of that silly dancing commercial! Thanks for sharing!
  • David Dutton plus 11 months ago
Great, I'm glad you enjoyed it and joined Vimeo to comment :)

This will be a video I will watch my whole life to remember my time in Korea. It is a perfect collection of images and experiences any foreigner will encounter after a stay in Korea, some daily, some only once, but all real and all nostalgic. Thank you so much for putting on record what those without the skills cannot. I really appreciate you making this video public, thank you.
  • jonathan 11 months ago
I second that. I have watched this about a million times now! It's everything Korea 'is' captured beautifully.

Apart from the excessive drinking I took part in and the noraebangs I tried to sing in

Just joined this site purely so I could tell you how absolutely gorgeous I think this video is. I've lived in Korea for two years and this honestly had me on the verge of tears, haha. Lovely. It's currently doing the rounds among Korean expat bloggers here and it seems most people feel the same. Really .... perfect. Well done :)

Dude, I really enjoyed watching that. You've captured the true essence of that country as a whole, and not just Seoul. This is the Korea I know, and not the way its superficially portrayed elsewhere. Love it, awesome work!

Seriously, actually I can't believe I've just watched this amazing video. I've been to Korea last January, with 20 other students pass a month in that beautiful contry. We wen't to Busan, but we travelled to Saejong and many other regions, that were filmed on this video. I'm from Brazil, and this video made me cry, of nostalgy, but cry. Congratulations, great video guys. P.s: At the part of the Guards Exchange, I felt there again, standing in front of this really pretty culture.

I loved this video so much that I joined in order to comment! It definitely made me nostalgic because I recognized so many places. It beautifully summed up so many aspects of Korean culture. I especially loved the Won Cashing CF at the end. I spent a good portion of my first few months there trying to figure out what that commercial was for.
    Thanks!
