My father's family lived in Calcutta for several generations before moving to the UK during the early '50s, a few years after India won its independence from Britain. They didn't want to go - indeed his grandmother and several uncles stayed behind and lived out their days there - but his parents decided there was little future there for the younger generation. I never knew my grandparents but India is a place which fascinates me. So when I found some old family photos I decided to record a few of his childhood memories.
