On September 25th 2008 we went to the Island Rottumeroog. It's one of a few uninhabited islands above the province Groningen. The whole island is part of a nature reserve.
Between march and the middle of august the whole island is a protected area and a visit by boat or foot is not allowed. We went there after the summer season with Staats Bosbeheer. Our guide was one of the people who had the chance to stay on the island for a few years to count birds and watch over the island. He told us wonderful stories about his time on the island.
The weather that day was almost perfect. There was one little problem. Normally the tide was pretty quick, but because of the weather conditions the water was coming up slow and our journey back to Lauwersoog was stretched by an extra hour. The boat was stuck on the bottom several times.
This small movie was made from the boat which was still on the beach that moment. In about 40 minutes the water was coming up slow. On the right some photo's of the island and the beautiful nature.
