This was made in northern Ontario. They like to call it sunset country. It uses multiple digital cameras to capture one sunset experience from a variety of perspectives. My parents cottage runs on solar power and we managed to drain the batteries making this video. We where in the dark until the next day. Here is a more formal artsy statement about the video....
Sundown is a simple video which employs modern digital technologies to create a nostalgic aesthetic experience of a most Canadian subject, a sunset by a lake in the forest. As with all time-lapse film and video the work is interested in altering the viewer's experience of time and to concentrate the natural pace of life in order to highlight its rhythm. However, the accessibility of digital image technology has also allowed for a fragmentation of perception as a wide variety of perspectives are captured of a single experience. The effect of this fragmentation is to interrupt the natural flow, and to create a cycling effect through different views of the same moment in time.
