2. Diary (2010)
'Diary' is a highly personal and experimental film that expresses the subjective experience of my work, and was made as an attempt to locate myself after ten years of reporting. It's a kaleidoscope of images that link our western reality to the seemingly distant worlds we see in the media.

Camera + Directed by Tim Hetherington
Edit + Sound design by Magali Charrier

Excellent - at times watching felt much like either too much Ibuprofen or having intense jetlag. Loved the transitions between shots - lethargic and quite hypnotic.

So be it. I found it mesmerizing and heartbreaking.

Excellent audio work and video editing.

The dynamism of this film is profound, inspirational and multidimensional. Find that interesting, but then ... interesting is an interesting word. It empowers consciousness and expands horizons. Well done Tim Hetherington !

Hypnotic, mesmerizing, fascinating; thank you for this. I'm so glad I was directed to your video. Seems like a lot of what you experience is causing some amount of PTSD on you; a rude awakening to the realities of human beings and what they're capable of is always a tremendous shock. You always keep coming back to child soldiers also as a theme, a disruption of innocence, it really shakes you. More than the violence you show. It's dehumanizing.

I loved the leitmotif you used of the excellent transitions, and also the audio work is reminicent of many ethnographic techniques I've seen... really inspiring for me.

I'd love to meet you one day. Much luck in between. Thank you for baring the soul.

  • First of all i wish to say, i am ashamed to be born a human being. As for being a woman I'm enraged even further at how rotten an unintelligent the human race is. Amazing that the western world isn't able to not only get over it's insecurity/superiority or shall we say inferiority.... so many of us hate war n yet we keep on bragging about it... in some way or the other... or every E V E R Y ammunition factory and every solider would be out of job.... at any cost... instead every television commercial propagates greed n the need for greed.... lies sold with awards by celebraties.... Can go on an on... but i got to fight for sanity" at other places...
