Nice Idea. But i wonder how multiple people in front of the installation would be handled and what happens when someone's coming in from the right whilst the video is on the very left position and vice versa ...
  • Gustaf Engström 1 year ago
Hi Jewe, thanks for the comment!
We thought about this and how we solve this is for the computer to choose the first person who walks into the active area. It the sticks to that person 'til that person walks out of the are and then picks another.

The thing with left and right you can see in the second scene of the video. The window videos is directed to the left but a guy walks in from the right. The video then quickly changes perspective as you can see.

    Hope this answers your question!
  • Jewe Pasch 1 year ago
Ah okay, i oversaw that left/right thing.
That shows how seemless it works. :-) cool.

Looking forward to see an working model...

Very cool, I'm guessing you also worked on the Wrangler Blue Bell site? They're very stylistically similar, the way the movements go back and forth. Way to expand the idea to OOH. Dig it.
  • Gustaf Engström 1 year ago
    Hi!
No we havent worked on the Wrangler ad but you're correct in the sense that we got inspired about it in the beginning of this project.
    Glad you like it!

This is very, very cool! I saw it on notcot.org.
It definitely brings to mind the Wrangler Bluebells work to me as well, and if it in fact was an inspiration, I'd suggest added them as such in the credits to avoid ambiguity.

    Really well done, cheers!

I wrote a program on your idea, it has more features, and it works with a video camera to track movements, and can respond to several people in different ways (MultiPeople):)
  • Gustaf Engström 8 months ago
sounds wonderful! Would love to see a demo if you got :)

actually multiple people was one of the "features" for a long time in this project but in the end we canned it to keep the idea simple. But it really opens up a lot of possibilities to make some crazy stuff...
  • Tixan 8 months ago
The demo will be in two weeks, and if you like, I'll give you a program, since you came up with this idea, and I think we can continue to work with you :)

However, I still give everything you need to build a showcase, materials, equipment and where to get the most for the lowest price first
  • Gustaf Engström 8 months ago
Of course that would be nice to see it work for real. But as well I'm part of a group with four other ppl in this project, and we're all now spread all over the world on internships and jobs. I'm off to San Francisco this week and will be covered in work for the summer... but please keep me updated it would be lovely to see something when it's done!
