One more video of the circular waveguide mesh, driven at a point near its center. The nearer the center the excitation, the more the purely circular modes predominate until at the exact center only circular modes are produced. The circular modes lose energy more rapidly than the other modes. This explains why kettledrums produce a shorter, duller sound when struck at the center, and a longer, brighter sound near the rim.

    Sorry Jake, the point of the patch was just to get the videos done for my thesis, so it is really ugly and requires unreleased custom objects I wrote. Cleaning it up so anyone could understand it would take some hours I don't have right now.
