is this real time? I'd love learn how you're doing this - this could open up a lot of interesting avenues for live visualizations with no beat detection needed - since you know which 'bazz' is a beat
this is indeed realtime.
I use an ableton live set, and route the data (midi on massages) to processing. because these midi messages are converted in max/msp to OSC it can even be distributed to another computer with a more powerfull video card.
I planned on using pluggo (max/msp) so that every different sound in ableton could directly be translated in to an unique OSC message. sinds pluggo is no longer working on max5, i'm limited to a couple of presets I made.
because of this my goal is now to make a simple version, like this one for instance, that keeps interesting background visual for like 15 minutes withouth changing a lot.
