Here is my Budget Skater Dolly for DSLR: vimeo.com/25834161
Here is my $15 DSLR DIY Steadicam: vimeo.com/34310803

Super inexpensive, super easy to build and super results!
For $5 I simply cannot complain. The broom sticks are made of thin aluminum. Much better and stiffer than pvc pipes.

Another innovation. I enjoy seeing your inventions and creativity in action Jorge. I like the "super inexpensive"too. Pretty neat idea.

Thanks Paul! Man, if I had the money I'd buy the real thing but for now this will do.

No stereo hack, the iPod dock is built into this boombox.
  •
  • Where did you get that ipod dock?! It looks amazing?
  • Jorge plus 1 year ago
Diallo, it's part of the boombox. It is built into the box.

Awesome! I always wanted a slider and was too cheap to buy one. I am definitely going to make one now. Thanks!

What kind of tripod head did you use? Where can I buy it?
  • Jorge plus 1 year ago
I actually bought a Velbon tripod Ph-248 at a yard sale for $5. You can probably find one on ebay for under $30. It's a nice fluid head and not as cheap as emmagination states in his cheesycam website.

With all those blinking lights, I don't need the words "Digital Mix Maker" to be amazed. :p Anyway... Nice DIY!

His idea for the broom is fantastic. Now forget the pvc. Make a wooden platform and mount 8 skateboard bearings in sets to it. Let the bearings ride evenly on each edge of the broom handle. It will move like ice on glass and can even move by gravity alone. Any speed it picks up (if the slide was longer than 2') can be adjusted in post. You have some really nice shots here in your example video, great job.

Mike, could you elaborate on this idea? I'm planning on making my own glide track and I've been searching for the best ideas. I too think that the metal broom stick is an excellent idea, but I want something more like pro skates. How would you go about that? I was thinking about going to a skate shop and seeing what kind of things they have for sale...I don't know anything about skating. Let me know!

dude you are brilliant....nice freaking work too...I had my jaw wide open during those shots of the boom box...those shots were WICKED AWESOME....daym....

Thanks homie! I need to add a small plate between the pvc and tripod head which will add another dollar to the slider. The plate will make it more stable. But still man, for the $$ I spent you just can't beat it.
