David Conte’s one-act chamber opera “Firebird Motel” relates the existential journey of a Mojave Desert motel desk clerk (Ivan), who, after being visited by the ghost of his previous lover (Julie), finds himself with a second opportunity for uncertain redemption with another (Corina) following a three-way shootout.
David Conte’s score for Firebird Motel is for five-piece chamber orchestra, singers and tape, this video is an excerpt of the premiere run of this opera. The role of "Julie" was written for Julie Queen.
