Volkswagen held an exclusive event at the Detroit Motorshow of 2011, to present the new Passat to the US-market. omstudios had the opportunity to produce this thrilling clip featuring a ball of flames chasing the new VW Passat.

The clip was shot using the ARRI ALEXA, which provided excellent footage even under low light circumstances.

It was our goal to create a realistic fireball with a bold but not destructive character. The flames were created in 3D, composited onto the footage, and graded with IRIDAS SpeedGrade. Our CG department spent 3 intensive weeks on the VFX shots, with compelling results.
