Simple but time consuming. Worth the effort when I saw the set up at the venue though. Still don't think I'll do this kind of thing again for so many cakes.

Hi Lorraine, great idea and yet so simple. Love the idea of using a small amount of piping gel to hold the ribbon in place. I also think the black and white works really well together.

    SUPERB work, Lorraine!
I saw a wedding cake show on tv recently, they did 180 little gems like yours (sans bows, though) and they would have benefitted greatly from your help!
Lots of work, and you make it look nearly effortless! KUDOS to you!

Gorgeous, simple and classy. Was the ribbon made from gumpaste as well?

You say you use piping gele to the ribbon, how do you make this gele? Thanks for sharing.

Love the elegant black bow tie look. Changing the color of the bow to pink for a girl or baby blue for a boy would make cute baby shower cakes as well.
