Karl Stauber and Rick Cohen got together for a spirited discussion about the current state and future prospects of philanthropy in Rural America. Karl is the current president and CEO of the Danville Regional Foundation and formerly worked with USDA, the Northwest Area Foundation, the Needmor Fund, and the Babcock Foundation. After serving eight years as the executive director of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP), in 2006 Rick began writing for Nonprofit Quarterly magazine as NPQ’s national correspondent. Both Rick and Karl have written and spoken extensively about the roles that local and national foundations can play in advancing rural communities and promise a no holds barred discussion of whether or not these philanthropic institutions are meeting their obligations.
