Nek Chand began making a garden in 1958 out of the remains of 26 villages which were destroyed to make place for the new model city of Chandigarh of the famous architect Le Corbusier.
The Rock Garden has been made completely from waste materials. The garden highlights the value of materials many people consider trash.
Urban and industrial waste, collected ceramic tiles, pottery, glass bracelets, electrical sockets, bottles, shattered china, oil drums - all was used for Chands art.
