Answers to the question "what's gone right" in post-quake Haiti are a rare commodity. It seems easier to discover stories of what has gone wrong since the quake, but this powerful documentary is refreshingly different.
"Unshaken Faith: Stories of Faith and Hope in Post-Quake Haiti" unearths tales of several brave and insightful Haitian leaders whom, although seeing years of innovative social work leveled before their eyes, have opted to dig in and press on to make sure that a broken Haiti can be re-born better than before.
Brian Heerwagen, CEO of DELTA Ministries International, along with a Pacific Northwest film team, meet and follow Pastor Guillomettre Herode and one of his protege's, Pastor Francklin Alexis in January of 2010 as they comprehend the heart wrenching loss dealt them by the earthquake. The team returns again a year later to document and celebrate the rebuilding of communities and the people of Port au Prince.
Hidden inside these heart-wrenching yet heroic stories - from the words and courage of these dynamic Haitian leaders - may be the ultimate, long-term solution need to help Haiti emerge from being the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere to becoming the place of beauty and civility that it can be.
"Unshaken Faith: Stories of Faith and Hope in Post-quake Haiti" is a production of Trail Marker Media (Portland, OR), in partnership with DELTA Ministries International (Vancouver, WA) and Missions Door (Denver, CO).
