Hot-springs, hiking up Loon Creek and Little Pine overlook, ropes and cans at Elk Bar, two guys that decide to exit their right side up inflatable kayaks, plenty of smiles, and a boat load of screaming girls.
You're always going to learn something on a Rocky trip. Keeping with that theme (and depending on whether you went to sock hops or not) some trivia:
The song Big Jim plays in this video "Down Home Girl" was re-popularized by Old Crowe Medicine Show about eight years ago.
1. What rock band first made it popular?
2. What group first performed "Down Home Girl?"
A1: It is the second track on The Rolling Stones 1965 album "The Rolling Stones No. 2"
A2: 1950's doowop band The Coasters first performed "Down Home Girl." Like most of their hits, "Down Home Girl" was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Search for the song on iTunes - the horns are fantastic, the deep wooping voice a bit goofy.
If you play a horn instrument bring it with you on the Middle Fork next summer and we'll record a river-side version/tribute to The Coasters.
