On January 16th, 2008, Janel Tupuola, 29, mother of 5 young children, was brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Alapeti Siuanu Tunoa Jr.
At 5:30 p.m. she picked up her children from a home daycare in Kailua.
As she pulled up to get the children, Tunoa, a 6'2", 340-pound ex-convict, rammed her small car with his large truck.
Then violently clubbed her to death with the butt of his shotgun in front of several stunned witnesses.
The beating was so violent, that the witnesses saw the gun splinter during the attack, but because they were unarmed, they did not intervene out of fear hed turn the shotgun on them.
A 69-year-old unarmed man who lived nearby valiantly attempted to intervene, but Tunoa, turned on good senior Samaritan, hitting him several times and causing severe injuries.
This video was made to show the tragic event that unfolded that day. The dramatization shows a re-imaging based on news reports and eye witness accounts.
This is one of Hawaii's most brutal ice/domestic violence cases to date.
Filmed for a Anti-drug awareness program.
