The brief was to take an existing video, a straight edit of archive footage and turn it into something exciting for the popular re-release of this 70s track.
Kate’s approach was to remove unwanted background elements from the footage and inject colour combined with Pop Art graphics to create something fresh. When David LaChapelle was shown the video he decided to commission this visual approach for several films for Elton John’s Red Piano show in Las Vegas, which he art directed.
The track went to number one and excerpts from the video were shown on Elton John week as part of the 2009 series of X Factor.
