Artisanal miners of Munhena, in Manica District, explain how they work and organised their mine. They show the techniques they use to minimise sediment loads in the rivers, and how they use retorts when using mercury. They further reflect on the partnership they had just started with an industrial mining group in March 2008.
The video was produced as a participatory research tool, in a collaborative effort of the Centre for Sustainable Development for Natural Resources, Ministerio para a Coordenação da Acção Ambiental, the Provincial Directorate for Mining and Energie of Manica, and the Miners Association of Munhena.
