It's late summer, 1958 and the sound of wheat harvesting and the pungent smell of horse manure fill the air! In the distance one can also hear a steam train. This is a tiny corner of picturesque Suffolk as it was 50 years ago - let's go back there.
Here's just over 20 minutes in HD from a master edit I used to make the new 'Thurston 00' 2008 DVD of Ely & District Model Railway Club's multi-award winning model of this Suffolk station. If this interests you, the detailed narrative should hopefully tell you all you need to know about the model and the actual village location (but if not, just ask). Watch out for the accidents at the end too!
In September 2008 we exhibited the layout one weekend in Thurston village itself to much acclaim by the amazed locals. DVD sales were rather brisk! Whilst in Thurston, we took the model building of the 'Fox & Hounds Pub' (it's only about a foot/30cm long) into the very same thriving pub. That got us noticed. It even got us a table for dinner on a very busy/otherwise fully booked Saturday night.
Thurston OO will be appearing/has at some major UK exhibitions in 2011-12-13 including Taunton, then Warley/NEC and then in at Glasgow, Manchester and Tolworth followed by Folkstone (2013) and possible Butterly (2012 or 2013). It's also featured and on the front cover of November 2008's edition of Hornby Magazine amongst other recent publications.

I recommend you wait for this long/large HD video file to fully load before watching it! The compression I've used to get the file on here under 500MB means it's really no where near as good, smooth and sharp as what the official DVD's deliver (in Std Def and stunning HD versions). Anyway, that gives you a reason to buy one and so support the Clubs modelling activities!
Enjoy. Andy
