Thanks Geoff, The hand held is not better with the fixed lens, VR lens are better for it, this shot was made with a monopod, a fluid head built into the base of the monopod makes for smooth panning actions. videomaker.com/article/12672/ Great monopod.
how did your test with your 50mm 1.4 ai lens go? was it anything close to the quality of the video above.
in terms of video quality, what do you think the difference between the 50mm 1.4d vs 50mm 1.4 ai is? i'm trying to find 'tests' on the ai lens, but can't find 'em :(
I like the focus to be on the eyes. That is harder to hold but looks the sharpest. For that reason I would have used F4. Your kids are major cute though. :o)
Que de beaux souvenirs vont avoir ces enfants là...
En effet le focus sur les yeux de Stéphanie est impressionnant. Et à mon avis: sweet child of mine est un bon choix de musique. :)
Great video to show off the qualities of the D90. With shots like these, who cares about jello anyway? Did you jump through the displacement filter hoops when you edited this video? I didn't see them nasty staircase artifacts.
Hello, I am delighted the video. I just buy a D90, I am beginning to test the video, but all the videos I see with a lot of grain, I can say it can be?
Hello Roland, fist of all, congratulations on all your demo videos, they are all great!
I was wondering if you`ve already tried the manual 1.4 on your camera, since it sells somewhat cheaper these days, and i prefer its construction, i was thinking of getting for video ude only, since its not AF ...
cheers :)
I've been studying your HD photographic work for some time now on Vimeo (nice work and thank you for sharing your awesome HD family images with us) I have noticed you have several cameras, adapters and lenses; my question to you is "which HD camera of all the ones you own and have shot with is your favorite (quality and photographic HD image speaking)? We are looking to purchase the Nikon D90 because it seems to me the one that gives you the best HD photography and quality for the price, am I right?
I sold my FX7, I like the D90, DOF in a small package, its perfect for me. If you manage to handle carefully the D90 and avoiding the wobble, you will love the camera.
I use to own a Panasonic HVX200, but got stolen after shooting a music video a few weeks ago... so I have no other choice than to look for another camera. But thanks to all the video's you've posted on the D90; it has really helped me make the decision of going with the D90. I also like your home made steady cam too :-) Thanks for taking the time to post your awesome videos.
Hi Roland...
I'm about to buy my first DSLR ever and I almost but the D90 but 2 days away from buying it NIKON came out whith the new d5000 wich is prety much the same as th d90 with probably some other wierd tweaks...
I just wanted to get your opinion on wich one to get, their almost the same price and same specs I don't know if you have something to say...
ANYONE WHO HAS A COMMENT ABOUT THIS PLEASE POST!
Looking at getting a D90. The only thing is the type of video file it captures, I think its Motion JPEG, does this mess with mixing it with any other types of footage or do u just cross convert to another format.
This is a great example of the how good the D90 is for making little cameos.
I think the music is a bit harsh for the subject, though.
And you're right about the music... :)
Great wide open shots (especially at 0:50).
Yes the lens does matter... I have another Nikon f1.4 an AI manual lens, I will test it next weekend, I'm not fully satisfied with the AF 1.4D so far.

I'm sure you will have great moments with your family and the D90 :)
Thank you
