Ten years ago, a small group of intrepid CrimeWatch members went out on the streets of Lower Greenville.
And oh, the things they saw and photographed.
From those humble beginnings in 1998 arose this website, a renewed commitment by neighbors to protect their community from the drunks, and a really snarky sense of humor in highlighting the problems.
The mother of all snarkiness was the Priceless Whizzer video, first posted in 2000. These images will follow me to my grave, but I take heart in knowing they will also follow the persons whose antics were captured for posterity.
Just hours after its first posting, the visitor count was nearly 15,000. By the end of the day, it hit 50,000 and blew out the server. The story was covered by Fox4 News, the Fox network, and countless radio stations around the country. And then there was the infamous Court TV debate.
A reporter asked BD if he was concerned these images would impact the careers of the persons captured on film (Digital pics?? What digital pics?).
Our answer - If they were planning to run for president, they should have used the bathrooms in the bars, and not relieve themselves on parking lots.
We may not have a Whizzers and Whizzettes Reunion, but we still have those images. And every year on Texas-OU Weekend, BD puts the show back online for everyone to enjoy and remember the good ole days, when the fight to take back our neighborhood first started.
The original Flash animation has been re-mastered into a Vimeo/YouTube presentation, and posted online for anyone to find at anytime.
