In search of a wow & flutter effect I decided to modify a tape recorder to record the real thing.
I used a dremel to create grooves in the housing of a tabletop tape recorder. I recorded some samples to an audio cassette and pulled and cut them out of the cassette. I then attached my samples to a bunch strips of cardboard.
Then I recorded myself dragging the samples through.
