i watched Michael DeVowe's Slow Motion from Pictures tutorial. vimeo.com/14641555
i put together some tests with varying degrees of success/failure. shooting 10-15 shots on burst mode and then stretching those out over 5 second clips in AE. some things it works well. with others it produces a strange liquid effect.
i started with my dog. at best, when he is still, theres a strange liquid/motion weirdness. when he moves, like the clip where he tries to catch a treat in the air, he's too fast and the interpolation is a mess.
kind of interesting with animation and very noticeable difference with the time-lapse pictures of the moon — it can either be choppy with each picture lasting 3 frames or it can be smoother, but somewhat unnatural (with the liquid effect that i mentioned earlier).
At any rate, this should give you an idea of the look, and you can decide the best application for it. anyone who has more experience/examples, please send my way.
thanks.
p.s. if you deleted some pictures in your camera and the numbers are off, AE gets buggy. if anyone knows how to deal with that, please let me know...
