I was at my sister's house in Champlin, MN, and we were both working on our laptops. At 4:05 p.m. my sister looked out the window and wondered aloud what all the fog or smoke was coming from. We looked out the front door and found the house across the street from her was on fire. Other neighbors were a minute or two ahead of us seeing the fire and two guys were pounding on the front door of the house and another trudged through knee-deep snow to look in windows at the back of the house. A few cars entering the neighborhood, residents, pulled over and several were dialing 9-1-1. A utility truck was in the neighborhood and the guy driving it pulled over and blocked off a part of the street and put on his flashing yellow light. He grabbed a huge pipe wrench and found the fire hydrant and began working to loosen the hydrant so it would be ready when the firefighters arrived. The garage was quickly engulfed in flames and windows were blowing out and there were many explosions coming from the garage. The flames grew and we waited for the fire department to arrive. There was a low of -20 degrees this day and temperature was about -3 degrees when the fire started. Shot using my Blackberry Bold smartphone.
