The Gibigiana lamp (Design by Achille Castiglioni / year 1980, produced by Flos) was originally designed as a bed-table reading lamp, which allows one partner to read, while the other one can sleep as there is no disturbance through the light source created.
Gibigiana 2011 - the interactive model / first prototype
While making use of the spotlight to read, swiping the hand infront of the spotlight, detected by a distance sensor, lets the person switch to the message (RSS-Feed of Twitter - twitter.com/Gibigiana2011), which is then immediately projected through the spotlight, through a mini projector embedded into the lamp.
