Camping and diving in the Florida springs and keys, December 2010.

We started out camping and diving at Devil's Den; this is a freshwater spring in a cavern, so while it's open water diving, it's also underground. While we were camping there the overnight temperature was around 18F / -8C. We had the campground to ourselves.

In the keys, we stayed at Jerry's place, in a palatial apartment, but it was so cold (record lows for the keys) we spent a few days living in the kitchen. Fortunately the water wasn't frigid, and we had some great dives, including pillar coral swarming with midnight parrotfish and scrawled filefish. We also got wreck certified, and did a lot of cool wreck dives, including on the Thunderbolt out of Marathon.
