20. Yosemite Rock slide 10/8/08

A large rock slide took place just after 7:00 on 10/8/08 in Yosemite Valley. Ranger Erik Skindrud said three people suffered only minor injuries, but all accommodations in that very busy area of the park have been completely evacuated since that slide around 7 a.m. The area is now closed and may be for some time.
It was reported that several cabins were damaged with at least 1 completely destroyed. Several tent cabins were also damaged. A 10 to 15 foot high boulder almost made it down to the Curry Amphitheater, crushing trees and cabins on its way.
