A year ago, we arrived in Mexico City with everyone telling us how dangerous it is for 2 women to be cycling in Mexico. The word "DANGER" was everywhere in our emails, our conversations with friends and our hellos with local Mexicans. We had tried to put up a brave front and be positive but we were scared shitless. Our bicycles were left in storage for almost a month before we dared ride them onto the streets.
But something in that one month changed our perception of Mexico. Something made us stop fearing and start living. We started interacting with its people with our hearts instead of our minds. And in that willingness to meet others with openness, we were greeted with humanity. A humanity that spoke nothing of danger but of hopes and passion of a better tomorrow.
"2012 Hopes of Latin America" is a Documentary Short that shares the hopes we have experienced and collected through our journey in Latin America. At a time where the world is "prophesied" to end with The Mayan Calendar, we want to deliver a new evolution of HOPE to a misunderstood continent.
