7 minutes of underwater Galapagos shot September 2008 with Sony EX1 and custom made housing. It's just a short video inspired by Hans Zimmer's music.

Absolutely amazing! I love the whale shark! Is this some sort of aquarium or contained nature of some sort? Or were you blessed enough to be one of not very many people on earth that haven gotten to see a whale shark in the wild?
  •
  • Darek Sepiolo plus 1 year ago
Thx Tony. It's not an aquarium it's Galapagos :)

Thanks Darek, amazing your work. A peace of art. Never seen for me before. I went to Galapagos last year, I shot a shark in a cave. Nice but too much amateur in comparison with you. Congratulations, elr

What movie is this music from?

The amount of hammerheads is incredible! I volunteered on Cocos Island and swam with them as well!

Darek! You are very lucky! To see so many remarkable creatures. Especially whale shark (I have met with such in the Red Sea this year). Brilliant stuff!
    But ...
I do not believe my eyes - do it EX1? So dark. But you dive no deeper than 40 meters. Without the red filter... EX1 have sensitive matrix... And the impression is that not enough sharpness (except ray and turtle).
    Why?
Once again - stunning images. Breathtaking. I can only dream about it.
  •
  • Darek Sepiolo plus 1 year ago
Yuri, the music is from Dark Knight so I purposely made some shots darker to reflect the music. A bit more drama... The EX1 worked great. I shot most of the clips with ND1 actually.
Regarding the sharpness... it looks much better without compression and played with original resolution 1080. On the other hand you're right, some shots could have been sharper but that were my first dives with this housing and I had some problems with focusing.

This was truly impressive. I visited the galapagos and went snorkeling and saw the rays, sharks, turtles, sea lions, penguins, but I didn't see a whale shark! WOW that was cool. Did you do International Expeditions? I know you have to have a professional guide to take you anywhere in the Galapagos.

    Well done

Nice start to Vimeo, Darek. Hans Zimmer's music is stunning. I have used his music on a couple of my video's. Looks like you had some great moments down there. We get whale sharks up north from here at the Ningaloo Reef off Exmouth. You may of heard of it. I live in the South West of Western Australia and if you ever want to shoot some nice big White Pointers come on over.We also have one of the biggest populations of Tiger Sharks in the world at Shark Bay. Do you intend to post any vids on land? Keep up the good work.
