I was trying to go for the subtle and quiet kind of startle, but not blatantly terrifying him (hence I left my machete at home). I just stood there hunched over, silently cocking my head... Needless to say, I was surprised his reaction would be like this--even more surprising was the fact that he willingly signed the release form.
