If you've never been to this eerie and beautiful place, you are in for a real surprise. Set high in the Eastern Sierra, you are only a few miles away from the entrance to Yosemite! It is, for me, one of those magical places that always has it's own way of connecting with my soul. This piece focuses primarily on the bird life of Mono Lake, but also gives glimpses of the unique high desert landscape. Since Mono Lake is 2-3 times saltier than the Pacific Ocean, there are no fish. So where did the Osprey get that bit of sushi dangling from it's talons? Probably from the June Lake area or one of the Yosemite Lakes, several miles away. This video is footage culled from a shoot I did there a few years ago for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The music is from Windham Hill...a request is pending for commercial use permissions.
