Sky Lapse
when I originally posted this video it was called September Sky, however I was not satisfied with the original edit.
Shorter, and with added sequences, Sky Lapse is a fair well to summer and a transition into autumn skies - relax, chill out and I hope you enjoy...
be well ;-)
Comments and critique are very much welcomed :)

Q: With the focal plane shutter iyou have a real risk of burning holes in it - just wondering what precautions you are taking?
I always like the use of the silouette to anchor the motion of clouds, its a good technique that prevents that "conveyor sickness" effect of moving clouds. The power lines did a good job of that.
Also there wa one shot that looked like a motion control panning rig... was that digital panning done in post or the real thing?
apart from a fire extinguisher, a narrow iris & fast shutter - none at all ;-)
Panning as always is done with the real thing!
What are your settings when you render?
I use Quicktime h.264 or whatever that number was. But as you can see, when full screen, I get horizontal stripes.... WEIRD!
Adobe's media encoder h.264, 24fps, 6,000 kb/s & 44KHz audio - no horizontal stripes with this setting - oh and make sure your video is set to Progressive Scan and Not Interlaced ;-)
I'd like to hear more about your export settings. What kind of file do you put in the Media Encoder? Is it a lossless .avi or?
I export directly from Premiere using the settings stated above. I use lossless as the time line preference, but that's so that I can get an idea of how the final video will look like ;-)
Glad you like it :)
thanks for the 'add' too ;-)
Thanks B.
it's amazing what beauty there is to see when you take the time out to see it - time lapse enhances that experience sometimes :)
Great job! :)
I used a modified motorised telescope head, it has stepper motors that make very small revolutions - ideal for time lapse photography...
My set-up can be seen in this video: vimeo.com/994562
The cost isn't expensive, I bought my rig from ebay for around £60.00 (GBP) and it included a telescope ;-)
Search on-line for a bargain.
thanks for viewing :)
most of the scenes shown in this video are by products from living under a heavily populated flight path. They are a result of the jets passing over head and their trails having a slow dispersal rate. Still, we try to make the most of the British weather, and venture even further to seek the sun when the weather is poor - we only have ourselves to blame I suppose...
btw, no pixels were harmed during the making of this video - don't have nightmares ;-)
Well done, awesome video my friend, keep them coming :)
Have a good Christmas bud :)

Loved it :-)
To do panning time lapses, all you need is a motorised telescope mount. Modification to fit a camera is pretty easy too. Search the internet for some bargains ;-)
all of the 'red' scenes in this was achieved by having the camera in full manual control and cranking the white balance up to the max - this makes things more red/orangey in low light conditions.
Glad you liked it, hope to see more time lapses from yourself soon ;-)
