While visiting MacWorld, I must have seen at least 1000 different iPhone and iPad cases, and that was just in one booth! The booth in question belonged to SubCostume, a new service that lets users design their own custom case. They had an infinite variety of samples stuck on their walls. The variety was almost absurd.
Using SubCostume's web app or free iOS apps (for iPhone and iPad), users can build customs cases using their own photos and graphics, either uploaded from a computer or pulled directly from their mobile photo library.
To be honest, I wasn't blown away by the photo quality on many of the samples, but the cases emblazoned with custom graphics looked great, and that's the reason I'm sharing SubCostume on HHH.
Custom cases seem like a cool and inexpensive way to brand yourself and your production company! I fully intend to get a few cases for the employees of my company, Chaos Theory Entertainment. I also plan on getting a Hand Hand Hollywood iPad case for when I'm directing. Once I get my cases printed, I'll describe the results in a future post.
If you're in the market for a new case, and you're not finding anything you like, perhaps you should design your own, and benefit from a little self promotion in the process.
