this is brilliant! I have to say the vacuum starting and stopping was in my opinion one of the most creative use of found sound I've ever seen... you should release an album!
  • Jonathan Marcus 1 year ago
Absolutely agree! Raised the entire energy level.

I love the door stop. The ending is well done.
  • The door stop made a noise that didn't seem to fit with anything else but I used to enjoy making that noise so much when I was little, it had to have its own part.
  • Brown 7 months ago
My Gran used to have a doorstop like that and I loved playing with it

This is really good! The rhythm you created was very intoxicating -- I found myself rock'in out to it a little. Well done.

are you editing the video ala coldcut or mixing the soundtrack and then editing the video to it, either way very good,

    " what you doin?.......being a bloody genius! "
  • The Coldcut method I think. The idea was to create the music and the video at the same time but I couldn't think of a comfortable way to display all the sound video loops together so I just cut between the layers.
  • dalas verdugo staff 1 year ago
I thought of Coldcut too. They aren't as well known here in the States.

vacuum was unbelievable!! i just love that you spent the time to find all those sounds, moreso than the fact you edited them together so nicely.

you should check out vjamm software, it lets you perform stuff like this live. you can asign each element to a different key and build the beats up live. way more flexible that using a linear editing program.
  • I'll look it up. Thanks.

Awesome! I've been known to play the zipper turntables myself.
  • Excellent. With materials it seems the less natural, the more interesting the sound.
  •
  • I just logged in after an effective weekend of knocking myself out and it seems my video has been busy.

Cheers for all the positive feedback.

Imagine, seeing it the 30th time....
I dare anyone to watch this 30 times and still have an eyball in the socket :)

It's original because you're original. Art is expression, and no matter how many times you express yourself in the same way, it will always be unique.

What I meant to say was...Abracadabra! This, kids, is magic.

this was amazing, how long did it take you to complete? it seems all the loops were recorded in the same afternoon but to edit? i've been contemplating doign a piece similar to this but i am afraid it will take me a whole month
  • Adam Pelling-Deeves 2 months ago
It was on and off outside of work so I'm not sure how long it would take as a nine to five but it was played with over the course of a month. It's not too tricky to produce. After you've made one loop, it can be repeated for as long as you like. Then you can step back and consider how to treat the loops rather than all the individual cuts if you see what I mean.

Do one with a car! I've been meaning to do one but my car doesn't have an alarm and I think it would definitely need an alarm as a bed with a techno door slam beat.
