Well done, sir. Travel much? LOL I liked the tilt-shift footage as well. That's a lot of footage to compile over what appeared to be several years. Good job as always!

excellent - good job. Every time I do a time-lapse FCP hates my QT files or is very slow. Any ideas why?
  • Irrum plus 1 year ago
Encode to Pro Res that should help.
  • www.carlpendle.com plus 1 year ago
Thanks Irrum. Yes that what I've been doing but wasn't sure if that would degrade the footage at all.

Wow you are one extremely well travelled man. Really enjoyed the variation, and interesting to see some views full of people, and others of vast landscapes or cityscapes.

I'm guessing you cheated on some because the view wasn't actually that great at all, but it would have been brilliant had you ended up with a timelapse of say a wall across the street? Were there any such views?
  • Philip Bloom pro 1 year ago
i did put in the parking meter shot! i did once get a brick wall but asked to room, more for the lack of light than anything!
  • Dave Hallett 1 year ago
Hehe. Fair play. The parking meter is indeed a great shot to keep in the edit. The video is a great snapshot of what I imagine was a very exciting year. Wish you all the best for 2011.

Not just liked it - Loved it ! - I look forward to learning more on mastering twilight, aperture and iso compensation as well as flickering work arounds .. you seem to have enough experience doing it any chance we can do a tutorial together whilst you're in Melbourne. Ill be a at your workshop whilst you're here.
Also the audio works beautifully, obviously... I might have liked to have heard a little ambient from the specific locations blended in there as well.. I dare to add.. ;)
  • Philip Bloom pro 1 year ago
cheers Simon, will talk about Timelapse in melbourne. I may add some foley. This is the first edit, i always tweak a lot!

The tehnique may be much used and old cliche. Still you can apply it creatively and in some innovative ways. This is like a course "how to apply old-much-used-techniques in new and innovative ways." (sorry for my English.)

There was some dust on your sensor at 4:30. I hope you have removed it. Otherwise it woul ruin you next vid's too.
Furthermore it is a nice video. Music is well used for the composition.
  • Philip Bloom pro 1 year ago
yes there was lot of dust on it, shot at around F11 so it showed everything on the wide angle. I will clean up the image in post some more probably, hid a lot more with the Tilt shift in Magic Bullet

nice collection of timelapses Philip. your position offers you a unique opportunity to photograph so many incredible and interesting places.

you could write a book too called, "the art of hotel timelapses."

haha, which would make recommendations on hotels based on 1.) there views 2.) there room service and 3.) wether or not they have a pool/spa.

now that's a book i'd like to have in my library, along with dslr cinema. of course. ;) cheers Bloom.
