I was contacted by AFI in the early 90's to make a "curtain raiser" Something that would play before every feature film at the "AFI Film Fest". They apologized for only having $500 in the budget! I said "yes" but figured: If you only have $500. then I get to do what I want. I did. I had to work with that soundtrack. It's stock. I did a free association, free form hand drawn animation that still managed to hit the key points in the music. It was drawn in black ink on white paper and "reversed" (B&W negative stock). Colors were added with gels in the optical printer. They used it for several years since they couldn't find money to make a new one! -Chris Casady 2011
