Video clips shot during a promo shoot for Colin Lyons ( colinlyonsphotography.com ). Steadicam Operation by Carl Wiedemann shooting with a Canon 7D on a Steadicam Pilot. This montage demonstrates some of the moves I can execute on a wedding film and features some on my favorite Chicago wedding photo' locales: LaSalle Street corridor / Board of Trade / Rookery, Kinzie Street bridge and the LaSalle Street bridge. Recorded September 12, 2010. More info at: carlwiedemann.com
It has been noted by viewers that there is some camera shudder in several of these shots. While I have not diagnosed exactly what was causing the vibrations on this particular afternoon, I have resolved the issue through two adjustments. As I have noticed that using higher shutter speeds (faster than 1/60th) will make any errant vibrations much more apparent I have picked up an array of ND filters so I can keep my camera settings in a more ideal range when shooting on a sunny day. I have also upgraded to a Steadiam Flyer LE for small camera shooting. This rig allows me to use a heavier, more robust, metal base plate with the DSLR enabling a much more rigid camera mount. As this rig also has an arm with a longer boom range and a more stable vest another potential origin of vibrations is also mitigated.
