Its a very confusing and strangely still feeling ... I'm not glad to hear that you've been there for a while, but I'm am glad that I can at least empathize? Maybe? I've been trying to capture the feeling for a long time, and I'm still not sure it even worked just right.

Thank you for watching, though, and commenting.

Thankee, this is a joint effort between Flash and After Effects. They are the best of friends.

gotta love those camera movement! how much "wiggle(,)" did u use, in order to get that? nice use of particular, too! :]
  • Efehan 1 year ago
haha, just enough wiggle, the perfect number.

that's why i love this site much more than the others, so far, everyone is a maker and already dissecting while watching :)

I can see the feeling of isolation you were trying to convey. Also just feeling down. The fall season sometimes amplifies this in us. I like the camera movements and the subtle movements of the hair. It shows that you have taken time to study and understand how it should look. Good job.

    Autumn is my favorite season
    Summer is to hot
  • Efehan 1 year ago
    Mine too, actually.

Summer flows by sorta quick, but autumn sort of wakes me up in a thoughtful sort of way.
  • Michael Berner 1 year ago
    Exactly!
I like that, a thoughtful sort of way.

Perfect. That's pretty much exactly how I've been feeling these past few weeks with the stress of school and everything. It's good to know I'm not the only one. It's amazing how something as normal as the seasons changing can affect someone in such great ways. Thanks for this, It brought a tear to my eye after seeing it.

    This is wonderful!

    I love it!

That's it. I'm buying After Effects! And it's all because of you! There goes my savings account!!

I've got Adobe Flash CS3 Professional... but after I get After Effects... Where do you suggest I start the learning process to start doing animation? Do you have any books you can recommend?

BTW, check out my stop motion movie if you want. It was done entirely from stills taken with my DSLR.

    vimeo.com/1452564

    I don't have a video camera, yet.

Dangit!! I gotta buy that, too. You Vimiots are about to kill my pocket book.

Thanks for posting this. I'm lovin' your work... and looking forward to seeing more.
  • Reaktion Studios 1 year ago
Hey dude, videocopilot.net has the best tutorials on after effects, you could apply the techniques that you learn on there to almost any film you make!

I checked out "Big Milk" i think it's awesome, well done!
You probably know by now, but you can change the frame rate in FCP, so you wouldn't have had to make every image 2 frames in length, you could have halved the frame rate ;)

    I look forward to more!
  • americanvirus plus 1 year ago
Hey, thanks for the link and watching my video. Yeah, I have the frame rate in FCP figured out now. Now, I just have to find the time to do another video. I'll check out videocopilot.net too. Thanks for watching and pointing me in the right direction.

So simple, but communicative of emotion... maybe it has to do with colours or something... anyway, nice work. This is a mood I often try to replicate.
  • Efehan 1 year ago
you might be right, it sort of clicked when it was less saturated, for me. colourful things are great, but we might be the same that way, i find it really hard to put down weird, in between moods.

    thank you for watching!

The mood of this piece really takes me back to winters in Chicago where the lake shore is cold, gray and abandoned like this. Great progression in your little vignette and the the final seconds where the snowflakes come to a stop in midair was a great conclusion!

  • onur tukel 1 year ago
    you're a tease.
nice execution and art...but this is an experiment into nothingness. a nugget of inconsequentiality.
it's raining and our subject is melancholy.
he's sad. he's blue. boo-hoo. this is not the time for passiveness. it's a time for passion.
then again, yes, these kind of days are impossible to avoid and i really like it nonetheless.
beautiful, in fact. keep it up, big shot. keep it up.

  • Brilliant!!! Captures exactly how I am feeling with what is going on around me right now. Things that are out of my personal control, and this captures perfectly how I feel due to it all. Thanks. Keep up the great work.

Nice work on the animation. I like the camera movements and the drawing style.

I will say I didn't quite get as powerful as a feeling as others did though...
  • Efehan 1 year ago
    Yeah, that's cool too :)

Its been viewed enough times and not commented on enough times that I think probably most people would agree about the last part.

I always get a little anxious at the end of summer, knowing this feeling is coming, along with the reduction in sunlight.

The music is a perfect accompaniment.
  •
  • Brandon 1 year ago
I don't think this needs to be any longer as other have stated. I think it's perfectly sized. There's something stark about the 76 seconds in which it is portrayed.

There is a depth to those 76 seconds. I could feel the same autumn feeling resonating from myself while watching it and for minutes afterwards.

I would love to see more like this.
  • Efehan 1 year ago
thank you, i would be lying if i said that i planned to have that resonating feeling on your end, but i'm seriously glad that it happened.

i think its just such a strange time (and everyone has different specific elements to focus on and feel emotional/melancholy/sad/thoughtful/hopeful about, but the feeling is more the same across the board than i think we know).

thanks for the kind comments, though, i'm really glad it struck a chord.
