This machine was presented as part of my specialist subject for my Contemporary Art and Music MA at Oxford Brookes university in February 2011.

The video is a compilation of footage captured before and after the exhibition and stills from the exhibit itself.

The piece runs for approximately 5 minutes, stopping when the weight that drives the mechanism reaches the floor. The exact duration is dependant on the distance the weight can travel and the adjustment of the flying pendulum escapement mechanism.

The escapement slowly drives the plaiting machine which weaves together 3 lengths of wool by passing reels between two spindles. It has plaited approximately 10 metres so far.
