Here is the new HVR-Z5 and addition to SONY's family of HDV camcorders. Unlike the HVR-Z7 the Z5 does not have an interchangeable lens options. The Z5 is a pre production model therefore please take note that certain features may differ from the production one. Camcorder has been provided by the kind people of Expandore Electronics, supplier of broadcast equipments Video and Audio Professional Equipment. a videolifestyle.com presentation.

indeed a great consideration, it is light, focus is really good despite the size of the LCD to the Z1. 3.2 vs 3.5

Also the consumer version FX1000 will be a hit: same quality, much cheaper and available earlier. The question remains if the loads of extra bucks for the EX1 or EX3 are really visible and worth it. How much will the quality difference be? Will the Red One Scarlet (begin 2009) beat them all in quality and price ???? Any idea???

    Jan,

Scarlet Red is put on hold as far as I know. If you will take a look you will see that on their official website.
FX1000 will indeed be much cheaper as it replaces the SONY FX1 but minus the features you find on the HVR-Z5. Quality wise the XD cams should not be in the same category as the HVR series as the higher quality is definitely visible in my opinion.

Do you think the HVR-MRC1K also fits on the new FX1000?
  • VideoCobra 1 year ago
    Jan,

if your question is does the MRC1 snaps nicely behind the FX1000? The answer is definitely no. There is a missing connectivity on the FX1000 that the Z5 has built on it.

  • Anyone know the stills resolution when you take a photo with the camera onto the MemoryStick? Can't find it anywhere on the Sony product website and my Sony rep can't find out either!

I want to know about the 24p as well
I can't quit get a EX1 right now because the price but if these two new babies have a true 24p I will get one.
I still film with my fx1 but I shoot in 30p on it because the image, and the color is still amazing but I would like to have a true HD24P sony camera.!!!

So is this the best HDV camera (without interchangeable lens) out there more or less? Better than the Canon AH1? Any other camera in a similar class that shoot onto minidv tape?
