MTYP, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, brings plays and productions to over 125,000 children and teens annually, tackling serious social issues from poverty and racism to adaptations of the classics.
Leslee Silverman is a national leader in Canadian Theatre, showcasing her work on both local and international stages. Leslee was the first recipient of the Manitoba Arts Award of Distinction, has received a Canadian Human Rights Award for “commitment to promoting human rights and social transformation through theatre” and was honoured by the Canadian Network for Arts and Learning.
Columpa Bobb has been an actor, director and teacher for over twenty years. Columpa is the Director of the Aboriginal Arts Training & Mentorship Program at MTYP, the largest in the country, reaching over 500 young people annually.
Columpa received the Jessie Richardson Award for her performance in The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, and was nominated for five Doras. Columpa’s own plays have been produced extensively in Canada and internationally.
