There is a particular adventure all travelers in the Philippines must experience... The Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Sabang is truly a one of a kind experience. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognize this river as an official nominee for the “New Seven Wonders of Nature” competition.
Just getting to the river is beautiful in itself. Breathtaking Limestone Mountains in the distance tell you you’re close. The full river spans 8.2 km and was the longest underground river in the world before a discovery in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico in 2007.
Abundant cave dwelling creatures may catch you off guard. Even spelunking veterans surely have seen nothing like it.
Whatever you do, don’t throw any plastic bags or garbage on the ground. The monkeys love to play with and try to eat them; it’s a disturbing reflection of our negative impact on their natural habitat.
