I sat down with a few other bloggers & vloggers to ask Spike Lee a few questions about the role of the Internet, social networks and cheap technology on film making. This is an excerpt.

Spike is truly a revolutionary in thought and I am sure he will contribute to the future of social media. Blacksonville.com is a site that will continue this type of dialogue as we venture in to the untapped arena of urban publishers and Black bloggers.

Thank you for sharing. Spike Lee has inspired so many but I can understand his sentiments on his generation not hip on youtube, social media, etc. When you are in a position like he is you sometimes wonder what more stress do you need in your life. So, he would really need a team of individuals who could handle his presence on the internet if he ever decided to just go for it. I know he owns his domain name but I hope he will eventually share his thoughts and BLOG at least once a month. **HINT HINT** Thank you for sharing.

That would be rad if he did. Somehow I think he'll leave it up to the young upstarts to blog. Maybe if he had an assistant who could transcribe his words as walked around the set. I just don't see Spike doing the whole online thing like Kevin Smith has for example.

this is super interesting, Eddie... great questions. It's really nice to hear Spike's perspectives on new media because it is such a fast-moving medium that we often forget how far we've come in such a short period of time. Sounds like he could really benefit from people like yourself helping him create a web presence... I am also especially interested to hear what established "hollywood" filmmakers have to say about the advent of inexpensive digital filmmaking resources. I personally think that they are leveling the playing field and allowing anyone with a good story to get out there and tell it, thereby forcing hollywood and the conventional film industry to be more innovative and artistic.

    Thanks for sharing this, Eddie!

My thoughts exactly Alli. Cheap cameras, editing and video hosting has definitely afforded new creators a lot more options for acting on that big idea. I have a feeling we'll see that seep into Hollywood in a noticeable way in the next few years. How much is the new Red camera, like $15k?

I don't think I've ever seen Spike Lee excited.
